Presentation: Founded in 1852, the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest has established itself as a preeminent institution in the field of agricultural sciences and associated research in Romania. The university seeks to develop economically viable and environmentally agricultural models that can be replicated worldwide. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating advanced technologies, and building capacity within the institution and the broader community, the university plays a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future for agriculture. With a strong foundation in agricultural sciences, complemented by experimental fields, research centers, and a practical orientation, the university is uniquely equipped to address pressing global challenges related to environmental sustainability and food security. Central to USAMVs mission is the development of highly skilled professionals across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including agriculture, food science, management and rural development, horticulture, veterinary medicine, land reclamation, and the pharmaceutical industry. A core objective is to pioneer innovative agricultural practices that significantly curtail the reliance on harmful chemical inputs while simultaneously optimizing crop yields. By integrating agroecological principles, the university aims to cultivate a new generation of agricultural professionals equipped to transition towards more sustainable farming systems. USAMV Bucharest comprises seven faculties positioned in Bucharest, with two additional branches extending its influence to Calarasi and Slatina. A cornerstone of the university's research is the Research Center for Studies of Food Quality and Agricultural Products, equipped with thirteen multidisciplinary laboratories and a greenhouse. USAMV is spatially divided into two distinct campuses: Agronomie-Herastrau and Veterinara Cotroceni. The former, an expansive domain of thirty-nine hectares, is home to six of the university's faculties, encompassing Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Sciences, Land Reclamation, Biotechnologies, and Management and Rural Development. This campus serves as a living laboratory, incorporating experimental fields, the aforementioned Research Center, greenhouses, an innovative waste-to-fertilizer system, a botanical garden, an arboretum, a central library, student accommodations, a comprehensive sports complex, and recreational areas. The Veterinara Cotroceni Campus, occupying a six-and-a-half-hectare site, is dedicated to veterinary medicine. Here, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Institute of Comparative Medicine, and associated laboratories and clinics are housed.
